Boarding Activities

“It’s the camaraderie…when you board there is no end to the day and no end to the opportunities”.

At Thornton College, boarders enjoy a dense and varied activity programme with weeknight activities ranging from cookery to netball and a weekend schedule including trips to London for shopping and the theatre, cultural trips to Oxford and Cambridge, shopping at Bicester Village, visiting the Birmingham Christmas Market and Blenheim Palace Christmas lights, National Trusts walks and relaxed weekends, dining out, going to the cinema, snowboarding, swimming and more.

Boarders can invite their day friends to join them on trips at the weekend and often boarders are invited to friends’ houses for sleepovers or weekend stays.

Boarding Council

Boarders can represent their age group on the Boarding council which is made up of 7 girls representing all year groups and both termly and weekly boarders. The girls meet regularly with boarding staff to suggest activities and menu choices and to discuss planned events.
