Thornton hosted the first of a number of bespoke events for Year 10 students on June 6th. These have been planned to support students as they start to think about subject options for Sixth Form.
All girls in Year 10 have had one-to-one interviews with Mrs Scott, and their programme over the next few weeks has been planned to inspire and inform as they begin their transition pathway to Year 12.
Katherine Pountney from Freeths Solicitors gave a talk showcasing the life of a lawyer, the skills needed for the role and the degree apprenticeship route. Katherine emphasised that any subjects will fit with Law and advised students to choose a subject they are passionate about, such as Music, as this will make them stand out.
Employers are looking for well rounded applicants and Katherine talked about the importance of taking part in extra curricular activities. Like many law firms, Freeths offer fantastic degree apprenticeships based at their twelve UK offices.
