Rights Respecting School

Posted: 22nd January 2025

We are thrilled to announce that Thornton been awarded the Bronze: Rights Committed status by UNICEF UK.

The Rights Respecting Schools Award recognizes schools across the UK that are dedicated to implementing the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child throughout their environment.

This award is based on nationally agreed standards and involves a rigorous accreditation process. However, it goes beyond meeting specific criteria; it is about ensuring that all students are aware of their rights, can exercise them, feel valued, and recognise the rights of others. It aims to develop global citizens who believe they can make a positive impact on the world and know that their voices are heard and valued.

We are excited about our journey towards the Silver Award: Rights Aware and all the learning experiences it will bring.
