The Sr Genevieve Awards are open to students applying for places in Years 6, 7 and 12 for September 2025.
In May 2024, the Catholic Schools Inspectorate judged Thornton to be Outstanding in all areas, commenting upon the distinctive identity and charism that is embraced and celebrated with unwavering pride. Initially open to students applying for places in Years 6, 7 and 12 for September 2025, the Sr Genevieve award recognises the importance of the values we share at Thornton and recipients of the Award will be expected to contribute to all efforts to ensure our ethos centred on forgiveness, respect, service and love, remains at the heart of our community.
All students awarded a Sr Genevieve Award are required to commit to study at Thornton for the duration of the Prep and Senior Schools (if awarded for Years 6 or 7) and Sixth Form (if awarded for Year 12).
Awards can be applied to both boarding and day fees.
Your daughter’s application will be reviewed and if successful, she will be invited to attend Thornton for a visit, including a night in boarding if she wishes to join as a boarder.
Applicants should
- Show commitment to faith
- Be able and willing to contribute to chapel assemblies and Mass
- Evidence a dedication to living by the values of the Gospel
Award recipients will be expected to:
- Lead Chapel Assemblies
- Contribute to Mass through

- Reading scripture and leading in prayer

- Altar service
- Train to be a Eucharistic Minister when age appropriate
Selection criteria
- Baseline Assessment
- Student letter of application
- Interview with Head of RE and Chaplaincy
- Audition – reading scripture
- Interview with Head Teacher
